Aurelio Salon Stylists Enter the Goldwell Color Zoom Worldwide Competition
Every year, Goldwell hosts its Color Zoom competition — one of the most prestigious hair color competitions in the world. Participants from salons across every region bring their creativity, technical skill, and artistic vision to the competition stage, drawing inspiration from global culture and current design trends. It is one of the rare events in the professional beauty industry where hairdressers from around the world genuinely connect and push each other creatively. At Aurelio Salon & Spa in Howell, NJ, we are proud to share that two of our stylists entered the competition.
The Experience Behind the Entry
Participating in Color Zoom is itself an exceptional experience. Both entrants attended a hands-on class led by the previous year’s winner, received professional makeup, photography, and wardrobe direction from Goldwell’s team, and had the opportunity to submit their work alongside entries from some of the most talented colorists in the country. The winner of the competition earns the honor of selecting the theme for the following year’s competition — a meaningful responsibility in the global professional community.
This Year’s Theme: Disrupt
The theme for this competition cycle was Disrupt — a concept centered on the interplay between harmony and disruption. The idea was to create looks that featured a consistent, flowing quality interrupted by a deliberate break: a precision cut paired with a textured fringe, or a soft natural color with a deliberate splash of vivid fashion color. It is a sophisticated creative brief that requires both technical precision and genuine artistic confidence to execute well.
Our Entries
Our two participants — Natalie Ann and our stylist Arielle — brought their full creativity and technical knowledge to their entries. While neither entry advanced to the final round, both gained invaluable professional experience, a portfolio of competition-level photography, and a deeper connection to the global professional community that Color Zoom represents.
What This Reflects About Our Team
Entering Color Zoom is not something stylists do casually. It requires preparation, a strong creative concept, technical execution at a high level, and the confidence to put your work in front of an international panel.
